LIGHTHOUSE is a black-and-white short story horror game
Story!
You are a fisherman, which was heading home, but suddenly a thick fog covered your sight, and pushing through would be too dangerous, so you seek shelter on Heligoland island where you are trying to find a signal to contact others for help.
You heard stories before about an island called Heligoland, a gigantic creature lurking somewhere near the lakes in Heligoland.
This game was inspired by the artwork from @Polm23

This game was supposed to be a submission to "A Game By Its Cover 2021", but I did not have enough time nor the motivation to finish this game, but I found it too sad to just throw it away, so I redo the whole game from scratch.

I was unsure about the black and white design but in the end I was totally on board, it creates this weird, foggy environment that makes everything a little less clear and works wonders with all the shapes. I also love that you worked with a lot of water, I played a lot of lighthouse games (because I love the setting) and this is the first that has more than a bone-dry island.

The filter/ shader was always my main problem in developing the game because it made everything difficult to look at, I change it a lot throughout the development, but changing it too much would have ruined the personality of the game for me, but I am glad that you liked it in the end. :)
I also really love your interpretation of the ending, that maybe everything was a dream.

Excellent job on this one! The atmosphere was nice, it was creepy with the dense fog, and the entire Lighthouse sequence was tense as heck. I had a blast playing it.
If I could make one request: Low poly is cool. Dense fog is cool. Even this scratchy hand-drawn art style is fine, I quite enjoyed My Beautiful Paper Smile.
Combining it all plus adding in this really heavy filter kind of makes the game...difficult to look at, at least for me. Picking any one of those would've been good, maybe any two, but combining them all was probably a bit much. Just my 2c on the matter.
Still, I'll keep an eye out for other games from you and I had a blast playing it! Great work!

Also, I am very thankful for your honest criticism! I created this filter/shader, based on an artwork by Polm23. My goal was to kind of nail the hand-drawn aesthetic and add a creepy ton to it. The shader has been my main problem with my game, I agree it's very hard to see in certain places and It changed a lot throughout development, but changing it too much would have killed a lot of the personality of the game in my eyes.
